Hello! I am an Asian-American therapist and I work with young adults dealing with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, navigating adulthood, and intergenerational and multi-cultural experiences. If you’ve struggled with any of these, 1) you’re a human being, and 2) you’ve arrived at the right place. I am here to welcome you and all of your humanness! As a therapist, I can teach you the skills to navigate how to address these struggles. I want to create a safe space so that you can explore your life without worry of judgment. I aim to bring warmth and humor into the therapy room, as well as a deep commitment to getting to learn about you and work towards your life goals! You and I will be a team. You are the expert in your life, and I will act as a guide to help you on the path that you want to take towards healing. I want you to feel empowered to learn more about your inner workings so that you can take on the world!
Do you desire to move through frustrations, grief or pain, but are unable to do it alone? I'd like to help. Whether the conflict is revealing itself in a personal struggle or with a relationship difficulty, I can come along side you to move towards healing, peace and hope. I offer an interactive, practical approach to counseling. Together we'll discover your strengths, as well as the behaviors that are causing you pain, stress and difficulty. We will also develop goals to create the change you want for your life and relationships. I have a passion for working with individuals and couples; guiding and exploring their relational and emotional difficulties.
I am a 1st generation, Belizean-American who was raised in Los Angeles, CA. I received BA from UC Riverside, c/o 2008 and MSW from USC, c/o 2010. I have over 10 years experience working with individuals, families, children and couples addressing mild to moderate-severe mental health challenges. I enjoy using a person-centered approach and meeting my clients where they are using various treatment modalities which include: cognitive behavior therapy, narrative therapy and solution-focused therapy. As well incorporating spiritual and holistic practices within my treatment as well!
The people who come to me are curious to get to know themselves in a deeper away. I work with people to help them heal from trauma, interrupt unhelpful patterns, set healthier boundaries in relationships, dismantle crippling perfectionism, bolster their sense of self, increase self-esteem, mindfully manage anxiety, and live a more authentic existence. Together, we can work toward both short-term and long-term change.
Students who feel lost or struggle with relationships during the college years have so much on their plate. Trauma, challenges and transitions compel us to re-examine our lives, values and patterns. Together we can find and unwind the stuck energies of depression, anxiety and other difficulties so that you can get on the path for success and fulfillment. I welcome all people, and have extra experience with students, as well as those who have endured trauma, neglect and abuse that can affect self-esteem, focus and having successful relationships. I offer a warm, down-to earth, and authentic presence. My life has been dedicated to the healing arts; training, apprenticing, studying and like us all, learning from life. I strive to create a container for connection and safety. You have the power and inner wisdom to create a good life. Sometimes we need someone to help us clear the way.
As women, we are naturally attuned to the needs of those around us. We don’t think twice about nurturing and loving our people - whether they be our own children, parents, friends, or coworkers. And lately, doesn’t it seem like all of our people need us in one way or another? After the year that we’ve had, it’s no wonder that so many of us are running on empty. Whenever you go on a flight, there is a safety video where an oxygen mask comes down for each passenger in an emergency. You are instructed to put it on yourself before you reach over and put it on your child. This order of priorities can apply to all areas of our lives too. You can’t take care of the people you love well until you take care of yourself first. In the therapy room, there is no topic too trivial or complex. I am here to follow where your thoughts and your heart go, and we will discover how it is you have come to feel this way. Awareness is the first step to creating lasting change. Through therapy, I help my clients understand that their perceived shame and struggle are actually badges of honor and courage. No matter your past or your current circumstances, you deserve to experience life richly and fully. You are in the driver’s seat of your mental health and your life. Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your journey.
I am passionate about helping people find ways to live their lives more fully. I take a holistic approach to therapy - believing that the mind and body are interconnected and equally important parts in the journey of growth and integration. I blend somatic therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Brainspotting, and mindfulness to help my clients connect to themselves more deeply and move towards a place of healing and self-compassion.

Hi! I’m Dr. Lola Martin, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in California (PSY#32925). I specialize in treating eating disorders and trauma. Healing is possible. No matter who you are, or what happened to you, you deserve to feel safe in your body - and in the world. You can create a life that is meaningful and worth living. My therapeutic approach integrates relational psychodynamic, behavioral, and somatic techniques, tailored to meet each individual’s needs. I completed my pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training in clinical psychology at UCLA, where I worked for many years alongside my private practice. In addition to my clinical practice, I have had the privilege of teaching at several academic institutions across Los Angeles, where I’ve contributed to the training of future mental health professionals. Committed to lifelong learning, I regularly pursue continuing education in my areas of expertise. My clients and colleagues have observed that I possess an authentic, warm, humble therapeutic style, with a focus on insight development and lasting change. I am particularly interested in how social identities related to culture, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, body size, and ability intersect with your unique mental health experiences. I look forward to meeting you!
From a young age, I've always loved and been curious about people. I've always felt connected to and interested in others and their experiences. It is a calling for me. After having both positive and negative experiences with therapists in high school, I was confident that this is what I wanted to do - what I was meant to do! I will actively listen to what they're sharing and ask clarifying questions as needed. I will be fully present with them in session, with the intention of understanding as much as possible their emotional experience, inner thoughts, etc. I may summarize and/or reflect back what I heard and ask if it feels accurate for them or if there are things I missed, misunderstood, etc. And lastly, I would simply ask them, "what makes you feel heard and understood? Is there anything that makes you feel misunderstood? How might I be able to tell if you're feeling misunderstood (outside of being told as much)? I see the therapy as a collaborative process, one where I walk alongside the client, not in front or above them. I may not have all the answers, but I am committed to helping in any way that I can. Building trust and a strong therapeutic alliance takes time, but I am patient. I will not rush the process or force you to share something you're not comfortable sharing (now or ever). Trust is build over time and the process will look different for each person, so it is important to consider individual differences, past experiences, interests, preferences, etc. when building the foundational trust and rapport. Lastly, it is imperative to me that I do what I say I will do, keep any promises I make, and if I make a mistake, I will apologize and do whatever I can to rectify it and facilitate repair.
