Therapists for college students near 46202
Welcome—I'm really glad you're here! College can be exciting, but it can also be a lot. Classes, relationships, family pressure, figuring out your future—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure of yourself. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, stress, or anger that feels hard to manage. Maybe you're struggling with a relationship, exploring your identity, or just feeling stuck. You don’t have to go through it alone. I work well with students who are thoughtful, stressed, curious, or just trying to get a handle on things. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong. If you’ve been telling yourself, “I should be able to deal with this,” but nothing’s changing, therapy might be the space you need. Our sessions are a place for real talk. You bring whatever's on your mind, and I’ll listen without judgment. We’ll figure out what’s going on, talk it through, and I’ll offer practical tools to help you handle what life throws at you. We can cover anything from academic stress and relationship drama to anger, sex, identity questions, or big life decisions. Everything is online, so you can talk to me from your dorm, apartment, or anywhere you feel comfortable. If this sounds like what you need, or if you're just curious about how therapy could help, reach out. You don’t have to do college—and everything that comes with it—on your own. You can schedule directly at www.buckblack.com

I am originally from California, but have called Colorado (Denver) my home for the last thirteen years. While I do miss the ocean, I love being in the mountains and all they have to offer. When I am not working, I am often playing in my garden, doing something in the kitchen, spending time with friends and family, or traveling. I am the same person during session as I am outside of session; laid back, a little goofy, genuinely curious about others’ lives, and compassionate. I use she/her pronouns. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and am licensed to see clients in Colorado, Indiana, Florida and Nevada. I have been practicing therapy since 2013 and truly enjoy working with my clients. I love learning about how trauma and stress can impact our minds, bodies and nervous systems and the ways we can heal and start to feel better. I am a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist as well as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I often use a mixture of EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (SE), attachment, parts focused, and mindfulness techniques to help clients begin to unpack stressful or traumatic events and begin to integrate a sense of healing back into their minds and bodies. These techniques can be helpful for clients struggling with anxiety and depression symptoms, who have experienced one or more traumatic events, substance use, emotion regulation, or uncomfortable body sensations.

While college presents many exciting opportunities, it can also be a challenging time in your life. Maybe you're feeling the weight of academic pressures, wrestling through new ideas and realizations about the world, or navigating social life in a new way - maybe a combination of all of the above! You don't have to navigate these experiences alone. I offer an environment that is both compassionate and empowering, to walk alongside you in your pursuit of growth and healing. I offer counseling in-office, through telehealth, and in outdoor-settings. If the traditional office setting isn't for you, we can meet while on a hiking trail or on a walking path. You may be reading this because you are struggling. Struggling through school, a loss, a break up, or just... life. You may be tired of everyone telling you to just get over it, or tired of everyone telling you they just don't get it. You need someone to relate. You need someone who gets it. Challenges that come in life are tough, and I entered this field because I went through those challenges, and if we’re honest, I struggled too. I felt alone, but I'm here now to tell you that you don't have to feel that way too. I will meet you where you are in your walk of life right now. I’ve helped clients not just through tough chapters, but to excel and be there best selves for what comes next. I have a passion for helping people like you achieve these goals, and I look forward to hearing how I can support you in your journey. Let's talk soon, so you can tell me a bit about your situation and get all your questions answered.
Here’s a quick bit of information about my education, and areas of focus. I graduated from University of Louisville with Masters in Couple’s and Family Therapy, as well as Social Work. The majority of my training is in family systems therapy. In short, that means I believe all things function as a system and are interconnected. My approach to therapy is person centered, informal, and conversational. I believe it’s important to look at the whole picture, instead of solely placing the weight of the problem on one person. I also enjoy looking at Mind- Body- Spirit connection, which in my opinion tends to promote overall well-being. My focuses areas are: daily stressors, Depression, Anxiety, Life Adjustments, Relational concerns, etc. Some of the techniques I pull from frequently are: CBT,DBT, Distress Dis-tolerance( Mindfulness), IFS, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused, and motivational interviewing. Therapy is not a one size fit all. It’s important that the time you spend in session is designed for you. My work with you is tailored to you. My goal in session is to collaborate with you on your desired plan. I see myself as an assistant/ collaborator to helping you turn over the pieces in your life that need your attention. Therapy is the space and time where you are given the opportunity to be who you are. It is the space for you to be accepted and validate in a safe environment.
