I have been in private practice since 1997. After graduating from the California School of Professional Psychology with a Ph.D in clinical psychology and U.C. Berkeley with an MPH, I practiced in California which included attending privileges at several hospitals. I moved back East in 2001, and have been in private practice since that time. In addition to my private practice, I provide consultation to the University of Massachusetts Medical School Department of Psychiatry medical students, residents and fellows. I see undergraduate students from MIT to Worcester State, as well as high school students. I can say with complete honesty that I love my work and feel blessed to be of service to those willing to share their lives and collaborate to find the life they need. People come to share their deepest hopes and their deepest pain. Together we make sense of life in a way that works for you. Sh

I specialize in supporting students who find the balance of social life, academics, and transitioning into adulthood to be challenging. Many of the students I work with experience social anxiety, struggles with self-confidence, or have ADHD. I also help students navigate the complexities of learning to live independently and building a fulfilling, self-directed life.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, body image issues, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder & college adjustment/ academic stress. My therapeutic approach is practical and flexible, grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and exposure therapy. I find that people often assume that they “should” know how to approach therapy. In reality, the process may not be quite so simple and may feel confusing. Thus, I frequently have conversations with my clients about how to use sessions and ongoing dialogues about our work together.
I provide my clients with telehealth (online) therapy so that we can meet their goals from the comfort of their home, or other easy to access and confidential location. I serve clients located in CT or MA at the time of their sessions.
I offer a warm approach in helping you through what is going on for you, including anxiety, depression, addictions/binge eating, and relationship issues. I use some elements of CBT, motivation interviewing, and can offer other approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting.
I enjoy working with individuals struggling with anxiety/stress, life problems/transitions, self-confidence, or relationship issues, as well as those struggling with or know someone struggling with addiction. I work collaboratively with the client to process feelings and emotions and explore new perspectives. My background is in CBT, but I tend to use a variety of techniques in treatment. I employ a strength based, client centered, perspective to help clients realize their potential and engage clients in finding the answers to reach their goals within themselves.

Through a collaborative, therapeutic approach, I utilize empathy, patience, and a sense of humor, to help clients through unexpected challenges and transitional life phases. To individual counseling, I bring a combination of my clinical background and empathy through the use of a strengths based and person centered approach. To establish a relationship with a therapist takes time and can be rewarding when you are able to build trust, knowing you are able to confide and share your perspective, your story. This process allows the individual the opportunity to gain clarity in a setting that is confidential and accepting. All too often emotional/physical pain can have a significant impact on our ability to remain independent, self-reliant, engaged in everyday tasks and life roles at level of independence that is rewarding to oneself and those they care for. As an Occupational Therapist with a background in behavioral health, I take a holistic approach. As an Occupational Therapist I have assisted many clients in understanding how their performance patterns, habits, routines, and roles influence life satisfaction. This process allows my clients the opportunity to promote, establish (or restore), or modify a task within a life role to create a sense of control over ones life. My background and 25 year experience have demonstrated success in supporting clients who experience physical/emotional pain and reduced functional independence. My ability to allow an individual to feel safe, acknowledged, and empowered while developing the tools and skills necessary for emotional stability, greater independence, and an effective resource.
