Despite years of self work and therapy, is something still not right? Can you feel it in your body that your nervous system is not functioning in the way that you need? Working together I can help reacquaint yourself with your body and it's signals, learn how to listen to it's cues, care for the nervous system and whole self. We can discover the root of your suffering and find ways through it, so you feel more calm and more engaged. We may also use EMDR to reprocess traumatic experiences. EMDR helps facilitate conditions that allow your body and brain's natural ability to heal to prevail. Do you feel like others in the world are suffering more than you, that you shouldn’t ask for more? I will help you work through these doubts and hesitations to discover how you can truly live a life that is aligned with who you are, guilt-free. It's possible for you to live more in the present and feel empowered in your life. Our work will help you feel more connected to yourself, the people in your life and the world around you. You will better understand your life experiences, stresses and anxieties to learn to live with all parts of who you are in better harmony.
I can help if you feel stuck, insecure or feeling like you are not “good enough”. I can help you build real confidence and emotional strength. You might find yourself constantly overthinking, comparing yourself to others, or feeling pulled in different directions. One part of you trying to move forward while another holds you back. As a fully bilingual (Spanish/English) Latino therapist, I understand how pressure, expectations, and life transitions can impact your confidence and sense of self. I specialize in trauma (EMDR), anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, and self-esteem. I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you understand and work through internal conflicts, and EMDR to reprocess difficult or traumatic experiences. I also use solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral approaches to support practical, real-life change. My approach is supportive, collaborative, and tailored to your pace, while still helping you move toward meaningful change. If you feel ready to start working through this, feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation or an intake session with me.

PMHNP stands for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am a nurse practitioner specializing in the treatment of common mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, panic, obsessive compulsive disorder, and mood disorders. I prescribe medication when it is clinically appropriate, as it can be an essential component of a comprehensive treatment plan for many mental health conditions. My approach emphasizes collaboration and informed consent. Any medication decisions are made together, ensuring the patient feels comfortable and supported in his/her/their care. Once prescribed, medications are carefully monitored and adjusted as needed to ensure both safety and effectiveness. Rather than focusing only on symptom management, I take a functional, root-cause approach to understanding each person’s presentation. I am currently completing a functional medicine fellowship to deepen this work, and integrate these principles into my care. This includes using lab testing to uncover underlying imbalances, supporting wellness through nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle, and incorporating nutraceuticals or supplements when appropriate to promote lasting improvement.
I offer strength-based, client-centered therapy for teens to young adults facing various challenges and life circumstances, including anxiety, depression, negative self-image, grief, relationship struggles, ADHD, life transitions, and experiences related to Autism. My integrative approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, tailoring these methods to each client's unique needs to help identify maladaptive behaviors, foster healthy habits, and set realistic goals. Navigating life's challenges can be complex and exhausting, and finding the right support is essential.I am committed to working closely with clients to build a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship.Together, we will develop realistic and sustainable strategies to enhance your well-being.

Dr. Tara Cousineau is a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly 30 years of experience supporting high-achieving individuals who struggle with perfectionism, self-doubt, procrastination, imposter syndrome, and burnout. Her clients are often high achieving individuals who are outwardly successful but inwardly overwhelmed—neglecting their own well-being in the pursuit of achievement. She offers a warm, collaborative space to reconnect with what truly matters and build a life of greater ease and meaning. Dr. Tara’s approach is integrative and holistic, blending mindfulness, self-compassion, psychodynamic and narrative therapies, Internal Family Systems, and mind-body medicine. She believes every person possesses innate strengths that may be hidden by life’s pressures, losses, or traumas—and that therapy is a process of remembering wholeness, even when things feel messy or uncertain. In addition to private practice, Dr. Tara serves part-time as a staff psychologist at Harvard University’s Counseling and Mental Health Services (and as such cannot see currently registered Harvard students in her private practice due to conflict of interest). She maintains a small caseload of 8–10 clients at a time in order to provide personalized care. She especially enjoys working with clients who are motivated to grow between sessions and who seek to align their inner lives with their outer aspirations. Dr. Tara sees clients in person on Friday afternoons in Newton Highlands, MA, and offers telehealth appointments on Monday and Thursday afternoons. She has advanced training in Internal Family Systems, integrated care through the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, and teaching certifications in Mindfulness Meditation and Mindful Self-Compassion. She is the author of "The Perfectionist’s Dilemma: Learn the Art of Self-Compassion and Become a Happy Achiever" and "The Kindness Cure: How the Science of Compassion Can Heal Your Heart and Your World," which reflect her deep commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care.

My clients often seek therapy when they are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or burnt out. They are amidst a transition — starting college, beginning or ending a relationship, changing jobs, or becoming a parent. Others are feeling stuck and need support navigating friendships, partnerships, family dynamics, and careers. I believe that effective therapy happens when the client and therapist have an authentic, trusting relationship, and the client is invested in their healing. Therapy is a dynamic conversation geared towards your needs-to be challenged, validated, empowered, or understood; every session is designed to meet you where you are both that day and in their overall therapeutic journey. I value the use of humor and authentic connection. I primarily utilize psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and attachment theory, all within a trauma informed lens. Current and past clients have highlighted that they valued my authenticity as a person and provider, that I created a non-judgmental, accepting, and empathetic space where they felt truly seen and cared for, and that our work together has been valuable and healing. Welcome! Working with a diverse population for many years widen my appreciation toward everyone I encounter in the therapy room. My new clients often ask me, “What is your approach or therapy model?” Learning from years valuable experience, I do not take a blueprint or “one-size-fits-all” approach for clients. Every client has an individualized curriculum. You may be feeling distressed, facing difficulties in your personal or professional relationships, contemplating a major life transition, or navigating a health crisis. No matter what challenge brings, I will help you in resolving conflicts and strengthening your relationships. I will explore your options in a collaborative way while taking into consideration the hopes, expectations, values, and preferences that are significant to you. Using clinical sophistication and expertise I incorporate humility, kindness, and passion to create a caring environment. My life experience encompasses living in the Eastern hemisphere and Western hemisphere; also working in East coast and West coast of the U.S. It enriches me to carefully examine things in different angles and not “boxing people in” with narrowly defined categories. I also provide supervision for all learning stages. I look forward to meeting you!
Accepting new patients.....It is through therapy that we come to understand how our experiences make our lives meaningful. Choosing a therapist isn't an easy task; I hope sharing my perspective helps. Over the last decade I have worked at universities, elementary schools, rehabilitation centers and group homes with children and adults from 7-70. These experiences have shown me that the right environment activates our innate capacity to mature and thrive. Therapy is not about "fixing" someone, it's about creating a space that supports growth. My approach embraces the power of personality to facilitate change. Through active listening, I acknowledge the impact of personal experiences and encourage exploration. Like exercising - regular, creative dialogue yields new strengths and abilities. In this way, individuals find their own solutions that are often more personalized than CBT. As you search for a therapist, consider me - I think you'll find me accessible, pragmatic, and insightful.
I affiliate with cognitive behavioral approach to treatment (CBT), as well as acceptance commitment therapy (ACT). As a CBT and ACT therapist, my approach is distinguished by forward-looking, positive and goal-oriented approach, with the ultimate outcome of providing you with a set of skills improving your life. When I meet my clients for the first time, we may decide to seek solutions to ADHD, OCD, anxiety or depression. In each situation, therapy aims to support skill development and fosters a sense of balance, or equanimity.
I look forward to working with people who are ready to make changes in their lives and engage in the therapeutic process. Much of my sessions include discussing goal setting and thinking of various tools and techniques to achieve those goals. I utilize CBT methods, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches to help all clients realize their ability for change and understand they can achieve happiness and alleviate things like anxiety and depression.
