Does it feel like you spend more time worrying than living? Is your brain filled with anxiety provoking thoughts that you just can't shake? Let us help! We specialize in treating anxiety, OCD and other life stressors that take away from your happiness. Our goal is to help you get to a place where your mental health feels in control and the choices you make are driven by YOU, not anxiety.
Life has many challenges. It's how you grow from your past that defines who you are in life. You may feel alone, misunderstood, and unfulfilled with your life or personal relationships. Perhaps you're having intense negative emotions. People typically enter therapy when they are in distress, although it's usually the long-term and underlying struggles that concern them the most. Initially, we will work quickly to address your immediate pain and provide relief. As therapy progresses, our focus may shift so you develop more positive and enriching relationships with yourself and others. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and compassionate environment where you can recognize your potential and live a meaningful life. I use evidenced-based therapy that focuses on the dynamics that impact your daily experience. We look for the behaviors, attitudes, and patterns that protected you in the past but no longer serve a purpose.
It has always been my take on life that we must find joy and satisfaction in what we do and who we are. I have been working as a mental health professional since 2006 and I find joy in the work that I do each and every day. I prioritize creating a healthy balance between the work that I love, my self-care, and time with my family. I value the opportunity I have to help people find their way and find balance in their lives, whether this is through closure with the past or building new skills to cope with current life challenges. I knew when I was a teenager that this is the work that I wanted to do. I have always felt drawn towards helping people. I received my undergraduate degree from Flagler College in Florida and earned my Graduate degree from Assumption College here in MA. Right out of school, I worked for South Bay Mental Health doing in-home therapy. Once I became licensed I moved into an office setting and I worked at Arbour Counseling for about 8 years. After which I started graduating into private practice. A few colleagues and I came together to create Grove Counseling Services in Worcester, MA. Until COVID-19 presented, we were thriving. I now work out of Millbury, MA and continue to do what I love.
I’m a psychologist licensed in both Massachusetts and Kansas who spent 5 years working in college mental health. My approach to therapy begins with the idea that all people have an inborn drive to grow and make continuous progress in their lives. But, difficult life circumstances often interfere with our natural capacity for growth. Negotiating life transitions, having relationship problems, and managing overwhelming responsibilities can make it hard to feel like our true selves. I strive to provide a warm and reflective space where you can take a break from the chaos of everyday life, observe your experiences and emotions, and reconnect with your core values. I am also an analytical thinker who can help you identify and understand different patterns in your life, both ones that can help you grow, and ones that have been getting in your way. I do my best work with people who feel misunderstood in their lives. If you frequently feel out of place because of who you are, or if you often find yourself being the only person "like you" in any given situation, I’d like to work with you. Through our collaboration, I hope to provide an experience that can help you transform your feelings into a productive creativity that you can carry with you for the rest of your life. If you think that I might be able to help you, please contact me so that we can talk and find out together whether my approach is a good fit for you. Unfortunately, because I am a staff psychologist at KU, I am unable to see students from KU at my private practice for therapy or testing.
Pursuing higher education, whether starting college, returning after time away, or continuing into graduate school, can be exciting and rewarding. Yet it can also bring stress, uncertainty, and moments of self-doubt. Balancing academic expectations, relationships, and personal well-being isn’t easy, and many students feel pressure to manage it all on their own. At Christina Cares Counseling, LLC, I offer a compassionate, supportive space for adults navigating the unique challenges of college and graduate life. Together, we can work through anxiety, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, burnout, and the struggle to find balance and direction. I bring over 15 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, independently licensed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Tennessee. My goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths, build resilience, and find relief through honest conversation, understanding, and practical tools for growth. I also accept several insurance plans through Headway to make it easier to start therapy. These include: • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Connecticut (in Connecticut) • Quest Behavioral Health (in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Tennessee) • Cigna (in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Tennessee) • Carelon Behavioral Health (in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Tennessee) • Aetna (in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Tennessee) • Ascension (SmartHealth) (in Tennessee) …with more insurance options coming soon. You don’t have to do this alone; healing and change happen through connection, and therapy can be a place to find both.
I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to help figure out if we are a good fit to work together.
***While I am not in-network with the Dartmouth Student Health Plan, I do bill that plan directly and students only pay a $35 copay each session.*** I particularly enjoy working with undergraduate and graduate students and my clients find my office location on Main Street easy to access from campus. I provide a warm, professional, and respectful environment where we will explore the concerns that brought you to therapy. We will work together to develop a coherent narrative of what is working and not working in your life, and draw on my experience and training to cultivate the insights, tools, and resources to create positive change. I work with adolescents and adults on a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, identity questions, concerns about substance use, and life transitions; young adults struggling to thrive socially or academically; and the impact of learning disabilities on social and emotional functioning. My approach to therapy is informed by training and experience in traditional dynamic psychotherapy, CBT, attachment theory, executive function coaching and mindfulness techniques. I also have a deep interest in using findings in neuroscience to inform our understanding of various problems of living.
Our group psychotherapy practice offers help with anxiety, depression, relationships, sleep (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia), eating disorders, body image, grief, addiction, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Our clients tend to be people who are successful in many ways and feel overwhelmed, lost, alone, or in need of some self-esteem building. We particularly love working with college students because by nature they are figuring out who they are and want to be, and the work we do together can be such an important and exciting part of that process. We welcome people from all backgrounds and are LGBTQ+-affirming. Please feel free to reach out - we would love to get to know you!
Hi, I’m Ben Borkan, and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Gestalt Therapist. I primarily work with couples using Crucible® Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. However, I occasionally see individuals who are looking to work on their own relationships. I did not initially start out seeing couples. I began my career in wilderness therapy, where I guided groups of young adults and saw the impact of social relationships on individuals’ development, both from family systems and also in the healing work that can be accomplished in a group setting. My work in wilderness therapy inspired me to pursue clinical social work at Smith College School for Social Work where I received my MSW. In the past decade I have worked in a variety of settings, practicing various modalities with individuals, couples, families and groups. Therapy combines both my passion for learning and my desire to help others grow. Gestalt and Crucible Therapy are two approaches I find most empowering both personally and professionally. While different, each approach is strengths-based and takes a holistic and real view of people, and how relationships and marriage work. They are also backed with research and evidence that supports their effectiveness in helping people with their relationships. I received my Certificate in Gestalt Therapy at Gestalt Institute of the Rockies in Golden, CO where I learned how to work with people, including myself, to rewire obstacles to authenticity and intimacy. More recently, I began training in Crucible® Therapy; an approach that incorporates neuroscience to help people move past projections, behaviors, and thoughts that inhibit intimacy. I take pride in the work I do and do “the work” from these approaches in my personal life. I want to share what I have learned to help people experience similar sustained and meaningful change in their relationships.

I work with teens and adults to provide a gentle approach to reflecting and engaging with complex emotions. I sit with my clients through their challenges and play an active role in helping them finding hope, understanding, and resolutions. I work with individuals who have experienced grief/loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, challenges in relationships, and difficult life transitions. I love using art therapy to increase insight and awareness into our thoughts and feelings. I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and use this modality to help clients identify and reprocess memories that have contributed to the beliefs they hold about themselves. I’m Alexandra Casamassima (a mouthful, I know), a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. More specifically, I help people create positive change in their lives when they are struggling. I have expertise in working with women. This includes college students or millennials going through a “quarter life crisis,” the pregnancy and postpartum period, and beyond. I support women in exploring their history and revealing patterns that may be impacting their emotions or relationships, or just help tackle a difficult season of life. I am not your typical therapist, and we will not be interpreting dreams from a couch. Therapy should not be an awkward and stale experience. Expect therapy with me to be a compassionate and safe space to process what you’re going through. However, I am not a sit and nod therapist. I will be real. I will challenge you in the areas I think we need to re-evaluate. I will use humor. I might curse here and there. While I have extensive education and training that has prepared me for this role, my experience has mostly taught me that YOU are the expert of your life. You have all the strengths, capabilities, and life experiences you need to get you where you want to go. My skills involve utilizing those strengths, giving you the tools to cope with what you’re struggling with, and elicit the change you want to see. I do not have a magic wand (otherwise my rates would be much higher), but if you put in the work during the therapy process, transformation is possible. If you’re reading this, chances are you are suffering in some way. Maybe you’re experiencing anxiety, maybe you’re overwhelmed with being a mom, or maybe you know you’re just not getting the most out of life. Please reach out if you’d like to take the first step to make positive change.
