I really enjoy helping students navigate through their college experiences at all stages of college - from adjusting to being away from home for the first time to making and maintaining healthy relationships, and to making difficult decisions about which paths to take when their college experience comes to an end. In my practice I am experienced in treating students who have significant mental health concerns as well as students who are simply looking for some objective support to work through some transitions and day to day challenges.

I offer a non-judgmental, caring, and collaborative approach to therapy. My style is both relationship-driven and informed by evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapies. I am also a registered yoga teacher, and I may integrate breathing and relaxation exercises into sessions if that matches with a client's interests and needs. (And if not, that's fine, too!) I am an LGBTQIA+ ally and provide affirming care. I have extensive experience helping people with eating disorders, as well as many other mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and adjustment issues. I completed my post-graduate fellowship in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Children's Hospital Boston, where I was a member of the Eating Disorders Team, and I worked worked as a clinician in Student Mental Health & Counseling at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I was also on the Eating Concerns Team. I offer in-person sessions in Wellesley Hills on Tuesdays and Thursdays and virtual sessions Monday-Friday. If you are interested in scheduling a session outside of the times listed on my schedule, please reach out, and I'll let you know if I'm able to accommodate the request.

I strive to provide a warm, supportive, nonjudgmental atmosphere where clients are free to explore their difficulties as well as reconnect with and harness their strengths. I aim to create a space where growth, healing, and transformation can occur. I do this by using a client-centered approach, listening kindly, and offering constructive feedback to help clients challenge self-defeating beliefs and behaviors. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is my main theoretical orientation. My goal is to help each individual to access their unique strengths and remove any blockages that are preventing them from attaining their highest state of well-being and becoming their whole selves. I have helped clients learn skills to better manage stress, as well as to recover from depression, anxiety and substance use using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. Although Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is my main orientation, I understand that each person's needs are unique and I apply other modalities including insight orientated therapy and mindfulness. I provide both short and longer-term therapy depending on your individual needs. I have specialized experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, transgender and gender-diverse individuals.

Accepting New clients for tele-health sessions only Born and raised in Boston the owner has intimate knowledge of the city and the challenges people living in the city can face. Each therapist on this team fits in one or more of those categories ensuring their ability to understand where you are coming from and where you want to go. It is out of that philosophy that Through The Forest Counseling was created. We know that for clients to get the most out of each session, they should first feel comfortable not just with the therapist, but also with the surroundings. As a psychologist, writer and consultant, my favorite population to work with are college students and graduate students, often managing mental health issues, while navigating independence, relationships and larger life choices all at once. In fact, I recently finished writing a book, "College Mental Health 101" based on hundred of interviews and thousands of students I've worked with over the years whose voices are in the pages. Whether its adjustment to school and making career decisions, to identity or family of origin concerns, to depression, anxiety and other mental health issues, I love working with students to find ways to improve their life circumstance. I have an academic interest in mindfulness, neuroscience and communication, and teach on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and globally.

WIth over 25 years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker, I have enjoyed working with young adults as they navigate many of life’s transitions. Listening to the stories of many students as they begin college or new chapters, I am aware of the “noise” that often contributes to self doubt and confusion. I specialize in navigating these challenges that often come with life transitions: the excitement as well as the uncertainty, anxiety, sadness and fears. I love to partner with college students to help reframe some of the thinking that leads to feeling stuck and feeling anxious. I support clients to trust and grow their inner resources and resilience while navigating the challenges as they face and transition to new life phases. Through a blend of empathy, active listening and evidence based techniques, I work to create a supportive space where clients can feel heard and they can safely explore their identities and feelings, manage stressors and develop coping strategies to thrive in a world that often feels unsettled.

Brookline, MA

Hello College Students! My name is Andrew Taytslin, Psy.D., and I am a clinical psychologist with over ten years of experience conducting neuropsychological and psychological evaluations with individuals across the lifespan. One of my specialties is helping college students identify aspects of their cognitive and psychological functioning that can impact day-to-day life, such as school and academics, work, social/interpersonal functioning, and mental health. The evaluations I conduct are comprehensive, involving various cognitive and psychological tests, and yield a diagnostic report that reviews test results, a summary of findings (including diagnoses if indicated), and treatment recommendations. For college students who receive a diagnosis and require assistance in the school setting, reports also include recommendations that can be integrated into accommodation plans in coordination with your school’s services department(s).
