Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Located on the Charles River in Wellesley, Massachusetts, the Riverbend Group is a small team of mental health practitioners who take a holistic, client-centered approach to mental health. We offer individual and family psychotherapy, group therapy, and meditation instruction. We utilize evidence-based practices such as relational and strengths-based psychotherapy, mindfulness/meditation, EMDR, CBT, and DBT among others. We strive to match you with a clinician that is well suited to your specific treatment needs.
I affiliate with cognitive behavioral approach to treatment (CBT), as well as acceptance commitment therapy (ACT). As a CBT and ACT therapist, my approach is distinguished by forward-looking, positive and goal-oriented approach, with the ultimate outcome of providing you with a set of skills improving your life. When I meet my clients for the first time, we may decide to seek solutions to ADHD, OCD, anxiety or depression. In each situation, therapy aims to support skill development and fosters a sense of balance, or equanimity.
Everyone, at least once in their life, finds themselves struggling with life events that feel insurmountable or with emotions that feel outside of their control. I believe that therapy can help with that and bring out your own resilience and capacity to learn. My guiding principle is to provide an open and accepting environment where people can explore their personal experiences and reinforce their well-being. I view therapy as a collaborative process and use acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to emphasize mindfulness and self-awareness. Working together, we can identify barriers to success, maladaptive responses and strategies to help you find the change you're looking for. I enjoy working with a diverse and multicultural population of clientele. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
I specialize in working with people presenting with mood and anxiety disorders seeking symptom reduction and healthy coping skills and also insight into their mental health challenges.I also work with people of all ages on the Autism Spectrum as well as their families. My overall approach is to set goals to improve daily life while simultaneously working on context and background that may be contributing to today's challenges. People benefit from all different kinds of therapy models. I often get feedback that my approach is more directive and actively engaged than other providers. In my counseling work I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. My clients include people struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. My relational and existential approach helps me understand and connect with my clients. I believe that the intent of therapy is exchanging "symptoms" for "coping skills." To accomplish this transformation, we need to understand our past to shed light on who we are in the present, where we have the power to focus on present issues and make changes that will influence our future. I see psychotherapy as a learning process. I bring my knowledge and understanding of psychological phenomena to bear on my client's life experiences. Psychotherapy is not an easy process, but I work to meet you, the client, where you are and to create safe space to explore and grow. In addition to psychotherapy work, I'm an adjunct faculty at Lesley University, where I teach Introduction to Psychology and Child Psychology. I have completed my psychoanalysis fellowship with the IPE, which is affiliated with the New York University School of Medicine. I'm also a certified Cognitive Behavioral group therapist.
I help people navigate life transitions (chosen or unchosen), grief/loss, unresolved trauma, family dysfunction and more. Therapy is tailored to each client and I draw from a variety of theoretical perspectives (insight-oriented, development of skills, relational). I am also a trauma-informed therapist with specialty training in the treatment of trauma and its impact on an individual's well-being and ability to cope. Trauma-informed psychotherapy integrates an awareness of trauma into all aspects of treatment while making safety and choice a priority. I am trained in EMDR therapy.
It is within safety and connection that we heal. I believe in the importance of creating a warm, non-judgmental, and safe therapeutic space, and a relationship in which you feel supported, understood, and heard. Client’s that I work with often struggle with feeling good about themselves, navigating relational challenges, coping with distressing experiences, as well as feeling connected to and/or expressing their authentic self. Together, we will explore your concerns and help you grow towards greater self-understanding, confidence, improvements in the quality and intimacy of your relationships, self-compassion, and well-being. My therapeutic approach is integrative, trauma-informed and relational. I tailor interventions to meet the specific needs and presenting concerns of clients and couples to supportively foster individuals’ and partners’ movement towards their goals. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). I specialize in working with individuals and couples struggling with interpersonal and relationship concerns (e.g., romantic, family, friends), sexual health and intimacy, transition and adjustment difficulties, emotional distress (e.g., anxiety, depression), grief and loss, trauma, and identity development. I would be honored to be a part of your journey.

My practice is based in Lexington, MA, where I provide both in-person and virtual treatment. I specialize in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, typically meeting more frequently to support deeper work. Therapy begins by reflecting on your experiences, with an effort to understand them rather than judge them. I take a compassionate approach to exploring your problems, your desire for change, and your difficulties in making changes. Through better understanding your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships, it may become possible to make more informed and meaningful choices. I am collaborative and flexible in my approach, looking for ways to work well together. I provide brief consultations for those seeking help thinking through specific challenges, gaining a professional perspective, or developing strategies for change. When people are struggling in their attempts to do things differently, I aim to help figure out what is getting in their way, a process that can take time but often leads to greater clarity. A therapeutic relationship with someone you trust can be an important path toward self-understanding and emotional relief. Because therapy is a deeply personal experience, it's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable working with. I welcome you to contact me if you're curious to see if this might be a good fit.

I believe that differently wired minds are what create progress, innovation, and enrich our world.
PMHNP stands for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am a nurse practitioner specializing in the treatment of common mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, panic, obsessive compulsive disorder, and mood disorders. I prescribe medication when it is clinically appropriate, as it can be an essential component of a comprehensive treatment plan for many mental health conditions. My approach emphasizes collaboration and informed consent. Any medication decisions are made together, ensuring the patient feels comfortable and supported in his/her/their care. Once prescribed, medications are carefully monitored and adjusted as needed to ensure both safety and effectiveness. Rather than focusing only on symptom management, I take a functional, root-cause approach to understanding each person’s presentation. I am currently completing a functional medicine fellowship to deepen this work, and integrate these principles into my care. This includes using lab testing to uncover underlying imbalances, supporting wellness through nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle, and incorporating nutraceuticals or supplements when appropriate to promote lasting improvement.
