Therapists for college students near University of Minnesota
I know that balancing school, work, and a social life is a lot to handle, and sometimes "powering through" just isn't enough. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota, I help college students and adults (16+) navigate these high-stress years. Since I work exclusively via telehealth, you can skip the commute and meet with me from the privacy of your own space. How I Help I specialize in working with people managing Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, ADHD, and Autism, as well as Personality Disorders. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I use a mix of tools to help you find what actually works for your life: CBT: To help you catch and change the negative thought loops that keep you stuck. DBT: To give you "in-the-moment" skills for handling big emotions and stressful situations. ACT: To help you stay present and make choices based on what actually matters to you. What to Expect In our sessions, you can expect a real, down-to-earth conversation. There’s no need to "perform" or have all the answers. Whether you are struggling to get things done, healing from past experiences, or just trying to keep your head above water, we’ll work as a team. My goal is to help you feel more in control and give you practical tools so that daily life feels a lot more manageable.
Hi, my name is Nathalie Torres and I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My focus is working with individuals who are struggling with OCD, emetophobia (fear of vomit), anxiety, and hair or skin picking. I use evidenced-based approaches like ACT, ComB, and ERP. I am also certified in CBT as well. But beyond my clinical training my style is very down to earth and casual. I prioritize having real honest conversations and building genuine connections. I am deeply passionate about helping individuals who are navigating college. It can be an exciting time but also feel very overwhelming. It is a lot to manage as it is a time that inevitably comes with big life changes. I would love to help you in your journey of making sense of it all and most importantly, feel more grounded along the way. I offer virtual sessions, making therapy accessible. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, I’d love to connect.
I am a clinical psychologist, and my background is in helping people through anxiety, depression, and trauma-related issues. I love to assist my clients in exploring their strengths and values, so that we can collaboratively find ways for them to get unstuck and to live satisfying, meaningful lives. I think that connection and belongingness are vital to our work together, and strive always to meet people where they are with compassion. Taking this person-centered approach, I use my training and experience in proven therapies to help my clients find new approaches to the pain they face. I meet each client with respectful curiosity, and a desire to create the trust that is necessary to healing. The central focus of my practice is to provide a safe place for my clients to heal from painful experiences, using evidence-based psychotherapies. I primarily use a cognitive-behavioral approach, helping my clients to recognize the connections among their thoughts, emotions, and actions, to find a new path forward. If you are looking for ways to recover and grow in the face of painful challenges, I offer a nonjudgmental, accepting place to do this life-changing work. Many college students realize once starting school, that moving away, making new friends, being alone for holidays, having additional responsibilies and independence can become very overwhelming and isolating. Working together we can process some of the changes and challenges that are coming up for you so you can adapt well and be able to enjoy the experience of college and self growth and development instead of being overwhelmed, lonely, or unsure of how to climb out of a pile of school work and responsibilites.
I understand what it's like to struggle with the challenges of being a college student. You are balancing going to class, getting good grades, sometimes working a job, family, and friends. That's a lot. You don't have to have all the answers. It's normal to not be ok because life sucks right now. Seeing me doesn't mean you are broken, and it's ok to put your guard down and crumble. I will give you a safe place to be vulnerable and learn to trust.
You want to feel confident, but down inside you are struggling to calm insecurities and anxieties. You may be fed up with the constant overthinking, feeling like you are lost in life, or those anxious thoughts that come at night. You might even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to understand why this is happening. You are ready to feel at ease and satisfied with your life. Most of all, you’re ready to feel confident about the choices you are making. You want to feel confident, but down inside you are struggling to calm insecurities and self-talk. You may be fed up with the constant overthinking, feeling like you are not good enough or that you just can’t let things go. You might even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to understand why this is happening. You are ready to feel at ease and satisfied with your life. Most of all, you’re ready to feel confident and happy with yourself. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who can understand what they are going through, but also challenge them. Because therapy should be a place where you feel like you can be your true self, and learn skills to make improvements. Sessions with me are client centered. Together, we learn skills and improve self-esteem. And we always go at your pace. As an experienced therapist for college students, I believe that we are under an unbelievable amount of pressure. And yet we can still create the lives we envisioned for ourselves. You don’t have to continue feeling unsatisfied with yourself or your current situation, and you don’t have to do it alone. You are sitting in therapy watching your therapist's lips move while she tells you for the fourth time that her cousin is gay and just got a “very butch” haircut. You can’t help thinking, “She just doesn’t get it.” He misgenders you, or forgets your partner’s pronouns, she pulls out Food and Mood, and he talks about how apple cider vinegar might be the solution to all your problems. She hasn't lived in a fat body. He hasn’t experienced homophobia or heterosexism from the inside. What initially seemed like a small hill to climb in your relationship has started to feel like a mountain. Maybe she tells you your black top is so slimming. Maybe once he referred to queer people as ‘homosexuals.’ Maybe, when you report your experiences of oppression, she tells you that the other party probably meant well and just wanted you to be healthier or have it easier in the world. You don’t trust him with your whole self, how can you? You’ve tried so many therapists in the past and she’s not that bad, is she? You continue to hope that therapy with a therapist who doesn’t quite get it will be enough to meet your needs. It’s not enough. You deserve a therapist who understands your lived experiences. You deserve a therapist who knows what it’s like to have your doctor prescribe weight loss to treat arthritis in your wrists, and who can truly hear it when you tell them about your experience with your homophobic aunt at Thanksgiving. You deserve a therapist who approaches the world with a solid intersectional anti-oppression framework that sees society, rather than some flaw in you, as the central piece of your problem. I can be that therapist. I’m fat, I’m queer, I have an intersectional lens, and I want to dismantle systems of oppression one client session at a time.
I work with folks looking to understand their own identity. Whether that be in relation to themself or others. Balancing life as an emerging adult while being a college student can be overwhelming. I specialize in working with folks who are queer, trans, gender expansive, and neurodivergent. I am trained in a trauma therapy called EMDR, which can help people who have experienced traumatic events to find healing. I support folks in finding skills for regulating their emotions, sitting in the discomfort of hard feelings, and being more present in their day to day life.

Hi, I'm Molly! I am a mental health professional committed to helping individuals, families, and communities reach their greatest potential. I gravitate toward a person-centered, cognitive behavioral approach to therapy while tailoring sessions to meet the needs of my client, commonly utilizing the modality of Brainspotting to enhance session outcomes. I believe in meeting clients where they are at to support clients in reaching their goals, yet prioritize collaboration between clients, parents, and other service providers as needed or desired because no one should need to navigate changes or challenges alone. It is rewarding to see growth, healing, and learning from the various challenges life presents.
