TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices. Creating a space where young adults feel comfortable talking about these issues is a strength of our therapists and a non-judgmental stance is key. The object isn’t to insist on a particular set of values or practices, but to support young people to understand what they are dealing with and to make active choices about who they want to be. Learn more about us by visiting our website https://tribecatherapy.com or emailing us at inquiries@tribecatherapy.com to schedule a consultation call.

Starting therapy can be difficult, and I strive to create a warm, collaborative and nonjudgmental space in which you can safely explore yourself and how you relate to others, and work through current challenges and obstacles in your life. I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst with over 25 years of experience helping college and graduate students with anxiety, depression, eating/body image issues, family and relationship difficulties, trauma, identity issues, career concerns, and life transitions. My work is primarily catered toward issues such as acute stress, interpersonal difficulties, and challenges involving mood and anxiety. While I welcome individuals of all backgrounds, I am particularly invested in working with clients with marginalized identities, acting as a welcoming ally to queer and trans identified individuals and people of color. As a therapist, I have close to a decade of experience working with a range of at-risk populations in a number of professional settings. Many of my clients arrive feeling like they move from one stressor to the next. Getting out of bed is difficult, creativity and passion fade, and scrolling on a screen replaces human contact. My practice aims at helping individuals uncover, clarify, and address substantial barriers which block pleasure and satisfaction. The work I do involves a deep exploration of historical, interpersonal, and emotional factors in conjunction with the development of practical skills aimed at fostering wellness.

I'm a Japanese-American therapist based in NYC, and my focus is to support Asian American students. Many students I've worked with have faced challenges like perfectionism, low self-esteem, and the adjustments that come with navigating a new culture or environment. If you're feeling isolated and find it overwhelming to handle the pain you're grappling with on your own, know that you don't have to. I'm here to help you explore the path from where you are to where you want to be.

As a therapist, I work with people who are processing all types of grief, including the loss of loved ones to both death and estrangement, as well as those going through transitions, feeling misunderstood or disconnected in their interpersonal relationships, experiencing anxiety and/or depression, or seeking to more deeply explore their identities. My approach is warm and collaborative. I believe that you hold more answers than you think you do. Together, we can quiet the noise, go deep, and truly listen to the wise voice within you. I am honored to walk alongside you on your journey inward and offer you tools to carry with you on your way forward. If you feel we might align, please reach out.

Have you experienced trauma that's left you feeling stuck, anxious, or depressed? Are you frustrated by finding yourself repeating the same patterns of behavior, even when those behaviors are no longer serving you? I create space for you to explore and learn new ways to cope with feelings of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and past traumas. I offer a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to explore the issues coming up and learn new skills. We can work together to help you to better deal with the struggles you're facing, heal past wounds, and successfully shift the unfulfilling patterns and symptoms in your life. I draw heavily from cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and psychodynamic techniques, with an emphasis on both practical tools as well as attention to deeper emotions. I also intertwine elements of other modalities including mindfulness & meditation techniques. I also am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). No matter the concern, I use an individualized approach to help you in the unique way you need. I’d love to discuss how I can be of service and I offer free 30 minute phone consults so that you can explore what working together might look like and see if it feels like a good fit.

College can be an incredible time of growth—but it can also be overwhelming. Between managing academics, friendships, identity shifts, and planning for your future, it’s normal to feel stretched thin, anxious, or unsure of yourself. Therapy can be a steady place to land—a space where you can process what’s coming up, sort through decisions, and feel more like yourself again. Whether you're navigating a recent breakup, feeling disconnected or burnt out, or just needing someone to talk to who gets it—you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I work with college students just like you to help build confidence, increase self-awareness, and support your mental, emotional, and relational health in meaningful, real-life ways. Our work is collaborative, judgment-free, and always tailored to who you are and what you need most. If your parent or caregiver is supporting you financially through therapy, that's something we can absolutely talk about—together, we’ll make sure this feels like a valuable, empowering experience for you, and a meaningful investment in your wellbeing. Your life is happening now. Let’s help you feel more stable, supported, and ready to thrive in it. I’d love to hear more about where you’re at and how I can help. 📩 Jennifer@modernmft.com 📞 917.708.7088
