Therapists for college students near New York University
Whether you are living in physical pain or emotional pain, we will work together to help you sleep better, decrease pain, improve relationships, get "unstuck" and feel happier. One of our greatest goals as clinicians is treating you with the support and care you deserve. We not only want to help you feel better, we want to help you live better and move out of negative patterns of behavior that do not serve you. We work from an integrative perspective, meaning that we have been trained in a wide variety of psychological techniques and will combine them to help you achieve your goals. We will teach you to use the tools that help you most, so that you can continue to work with these techniques on your own, once you have completed therapy. And that sense of independence and control you gain over your own life, that will feel truly fulfilling!
I am a Licensed Psychologist in New York, and do teletherapy only in Florida and Connecticut, Do you want better control over your life? We only have one life to live, so why not make it a happier and healthier life. You actually have a greater amount of control as to what happens to you than you realize. As a Psychologist, in teaching you techniques, I help people to create happiness and better physical health through the science of Positive Emotions when connecting with others in every day life experiences and thru learning coping skills. Feeling better emotionally leads to a happier life. Clients are helped mainly through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to eliminate anxiety/stress, depression, to relate and communicate better with others in a relationship, and to improve self-confidence. Clients are also helped, if wanted, with the addition of hypnosis for longer-lasting weight loss; to have restful sleep, eliminating fears of driving, speech giving, test-taking performance, enhancing performance in school, sports, and for acting, singing, and more. For those interested in hypnosis, I have completed the highest level of certification in Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH Consultant) thru the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. I also completed the highest level of certification thru the Long Island Institute of Ericksonain Hypnosis. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Buffalo Integrative Psychology, PLLC. I believe that every person has an innate ability to heal, change, and grow when provided with a safe and supportive environment. Together, one of our goals will be to increase your self-awareness, identify your current struggles, and explore what might be getting in the way of change. This will help us journey to a heightened understanding so you can take the necessary steps to live a more fulfilled life. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I work to see, understand, and integrate all aspects of you, your environment, and your experiences to move toward healthy functioning. I often incorporate mindfulness into my work to help us get into touch with your experience in the here and now and to help you navigate difficult thoughts and emotions. As a therapist, I am warm, authentic, empathic, and curious. I understand just how hard it can be to start the process of therapy, and I will do everything I can to help you feel comfortable. I strive to be anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, and overall culturally responsive and inclusive.

In the role of therapist, my initial priority is creating the safety and familiarity that is crucial to do real work together. I look at the therapeutic process as an opportunity to work with the person coming to me in need of support, and tackle their issues as a team. I bring a nonjudgmental, open-minded approach to my clients and emphasize the importance of clients feeling secure enough to say anything they need to in the space we curate together. My approach has an emphasis on self-compassion and becoming in tune with your emotions and body. In today’s world, it is easier than ever to become disconnected from your body and feelings. My hope is that we can work together to reintegrate your inner wisdom to your conscious level of awareness.

Hello! It's wonderful that you've taken this first step toward change and I hope that I can help make that process a bit easier. I'm a psychotherapist with over ten years of experience helping individuals create change. I believe that effective therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore, I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities to tailor treatment to each person's unique needs and circumstances. I prioritize a collaborative approach, working closely with my clients to create a safe and supportive space where we can explore their challenges, identify their goals, and develop strategies for positive change. I'm passionate about empowering my patients to achieve their desired outcomes and live fulfilling lives.
My name is Courtney and my focus in my counseling work connects with guiding individuals to rediscover their sense of self when facing challenges. It's common for anxiety, depression, shame, and guilt to emerge during difficult times, especially times of life changes, and if this resonates with you, you are not alone. I am dedicated to offering supportive reflection and compassionate listening, empowering you to tap into your inner resilience, strengths, and sense of purpose. I specialize in working with individuals (16+) experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression, and with those who are experiencing difficulties with life transitions, self-esteem, and stress. I have specific experience working with individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQIA+), and I also provide EMDR therapy. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where we can address past challenges, current stressors, and concerns about what's next. My goal is to empower you to embrace your true self, listen to your inner voice with kindness, and cultivate deeper connections through vulnerability. I welcome you to contact me to set up a free consultation.
I specialize in LGBTQIA+ adults and adolescents with attention to all intersecting identities and lived experience connected to race, ethnicity, religious background, immigration status, ability, socioeconomic status, and trauma history. Particularly in these upending times, I seek to provide a reliable healing space by helping clients find genuine, compassionate connection with oneself and others. Some of the ways I work with clients is to become aware of connections between current challenges and past experience, explore identities freely with attention to each person's unique circumstances, identify needs around interpersonal connection and boundaries, understand the impact of systemic oppression and intergenerational trauma, and foster hope for the future. I take my work very seriously, but also naturally use humor as a way to explore and connect. Therapy needs to be a safe space to be messy and broken, but can also be used for playful curiosity and creativity.
I applaud you for your courage in exploring therapy. I specialize in anxiety, depression, addiction, recovery, grief, loss, LGBTQ+ issues, stress, relationships, self-esteem, and trauma. I employ a Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral approach, emphasizing the reality that what we tell ourselves affects both how we feel and our actions. I also integrate the Psychodynamic perspective, exploring how our early experiences affect the now, and a Solution-Focused modality to help clients problem solve. I sprinkle in Existentialist, Narrative, REBT, & DBT strategies as well, creating a safe, non-judgmental & trusting environment. All are welcome and included in my therapeutic, affirming, and supportive sanctuary. I am a University Lecturer of Psychology at Fordham University. I specialize in EMDR for treating trauma and have worked extensively with first responders on work-related stress & traumas. My research focuses on the sense of belonging for LGBTQ+ community college students. Let me help you reclaim your power by guiding you on the process of choosing love over fear. I look forward to showing you how to use your light to honor your true, authentic self, align with your soul's purpose, and cultivate the courage to love yourself and, ultimately, others unconditionally. You are already enough exactly as you are. Much peace. Just be.
