My goal is to bring warmth and acceptance to all my clients and to provide them with concrete skills that they can use to help solve their problems and live more fulfilling lives. I am licensed in New York and Montana. College can be a really fun and exciting chapter in one's life; it can also feel really crazy and overwhelming! I am passionate about helping individuals meet their personal goals and, look forward to meeting each client on where they are, emotionally and behaviorally. I utilize evidence-based treatment approaches to address a variety of issues which include parenting, communication and values, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions which may impair functioning. My goal is to empower clients to create space, balance, time, and strength needed, to process and embrace specific needs. People seek counseling / therapy for many reasons - to gain understanding and insights, make changes, process experiences, for support and encouragement, and many others. Whether you are looking for a safe place to discuss whatever is on your mind, are interested in making life changes, or just want to give therapy a try, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and see how I may be able to help. You can count on me to be reliable, truthful, and kind. My approach to therapy recognizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship. I identify as queer and specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am an affirming practitioner. I have over 20 years of experience working with college and graduate students in college counseling centers, and as a result I've had the privilege of working with many people from all around the world. My therapeutic approach is culturally informed and integrates a whole-person perspective along with socio-cultural/political awareness and acknowledgement of the impact of systemic barriers on functioning. I am mindful of my own areas of privilege and how I show up in spaces and may be perceived by others. I attend to how I perceive others based on my own life experiences. I'm always working to educate myself and challenge my assumptions and biases. I read, try to keep up on the news (around the world, not just in the U.S.), and try to engage in conversations with people from various backgrounds. If you would like to have a brief, introductory conversation to discuss what you are looking for and how I may be able to help, please give me a call or send an email. An initial screening consultation is free. I look forward to hearing from you.

As your therapist my goal is to work with you in a collaborative way, using a culturally humble lens and awareness that "one size does not fit all." In my practice I work with Adolescents and Young Adults in an effort towards identifying solutions that promote growth, healing and life satisfaction through use of the therapeutic relationship. I treat individuals with a range of life struggles including anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and life transitions. Utilizing a collaborative approach and evidence based treatments, I will tailor my technique based on your individual needs. Aspects of mindfulness, trauma-informed and insight-oriented approaches may also be used. I am a compassionate and thoughtful clinician that is committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic space. My goal is to help you find relief through developing an ability to manage and cope with the complexities and challenges one experiences with everyday life.

It is both normal for us humans to get stuck, scared, or in our own way and also to need space and support to understand the cause of our struggles, face our fears, make changes, and grow. My goal as a therapist is to use our combined wisdom (your knowledge of yourself and your life, my experience and expertise), and sometimes that of my therapy dog Bella, to explore your concerns, increase awareness, insight, and self-compassion, identify options for change, and understand and respect what you choose to do as a result of this process. I have over 20 years experience as a psychotherapist and specifically working with university students (and staff), international persons, and musicians/performers.

I have over 20 years experience in the human service field. My passion is providing compassionate support for those struggling with life's challenges in a safe and non-judgmental environment; assisting individuals in addressing what is troubling them; whether it is marital conflict, depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, trauma, anger management, serious mental illness, etc.; helping them to achieve their personal goals; effecting positive change and working toward desired outcomes. I incorporate principles from the Christian faith for those who desire that but work with all people/faiths indiscriminately. I love working with college-aged individuals; helping them to navigate the difficulties associated with entering adulthood successfully. I am closely located to Canisius, Medaille, UB South and Buffalo State colleges. Public transportation is available: the bus stops in front of the office and the Humboldt/Hospital Metrorail station is a block away. I also derive great joy in assisting married couples in developing more effective ways of communicating with the end goal of resolving conflict and enjoying a more satisfying relationship where both parties feel valued and connected to each other in a deep way.

My core values are faith, family, social and economic justice. My worldview is quite simple. You see, I believe that everyone has a right to be in a good place mentally physically and spiritually. I find that I have evolved into a change agent - which is a natural profession for a social worker. The same steps that I have taken to secure my life, mentally physically and emotionally, are the very same steps I am willing to assist my patients/clients in taking. My specialties lie in my abilities to move a person or a family from a place of dysfunction to functionality. I strive to improve the quality of life those whom I counsel. My theoretical framework a solution focused, interwoven with resiliency theory, using a strength-based approach. I am just a chat away if you need me – 'how may I help you?"
