Intown Psychology provides therapy for children, teens and young adults. We are based in Atlanta and specialize in anxiety disorders, ADHD, and depression. Our team is skilled in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and exposure and response prevention (ERP) among other modalities. Our approach is solution-focused, and we practice from a trauma-informed approach. Intown Psychology is a self-pay practice. The range is between $150–$250. We do not take insurance at this time. However, we can always provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider, which typically goes toward your out-of-network deductible.

As a therapist, Cayla strives to honor clients’ unique identities and collaborate with them in exploring how their backgrounds may impact their wellness. She aims to collaborate with clients to foster an affirming, safe, and genuine relationship. Cayla is integrative in her therapeutic approach, primarily leaning on dialectical-behavioral and relational interventions within multicultural and feminist framework. She works with clients on identifying areas in their life they’d like to accept and areas they would like to change while providing the support and skills to do so. Her clinical interests include relationship concerns, family of origin concerns, adjustment difficulties, identity exploration, and mood concerns. I have been working with individuals, couples and families since 1996. I received my BS degree in Psychology from Spelman College (1992) and my Masters degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State (1996). I am proud to have a culturally diverse clientele that I've worked with for 20 plus years. Some of my areas of interest and training include: general mental health concerns (depression, anxiety); couples and partnership concerns, substance abuse/recovery, young adult issues, adjustment difficulties and more. I began Telehealth therapy via HIPAA compliant video sessions during COVID. However, video sessions may not always continue to be covered by all insurance plans and may not always be preferable for certain clients. I specialize in performance anxiety and high achievement challenges among musicians, graduate students, and creative professionals. Clients may look like they’re doing “fine” on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck internally. Many of my clients struggle with perfectionism, self-doubt, or fear of not measuring up even after success. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices such as ACT, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral strategies. I aim to create a space where you can think clearly, feel understood, and build tools that actually work in real life — whether that’s managing anxiety, rebuilding confidence, or navigating a major life transition. Before I was a therapist I was a music professor, and I watched talented, driven students strive for excellence while quietly struggling with anxiety and self-doubt. Over time, I began to see a real need for therapists who truly understand the intense pressure of performance-driven environments. That realization led me to pursue clinical training. I understand what it feels like to care deeply about your work, your performance, and your future. I spent years in higher education and the performing arts, so I know firsthand the pressure that can come with auditions, exams, presentations, and high expectations. My path into therapy grew out of a desire to support people navigating those same pressures with greater clarity, steadiness, and confidence.
I believe that healing begins the moment you feel heard and understood. However, we live in a world where finding someone who can actively listen and attend to our true emotions and thoughts non-judgmentally is hard to come by. I use my authenticity, empathy, and sense of humor in therapy to provide a safe space where you can get to the root of the challenges you may be experiencing. However, I also believe it’s important to provide you with coping skills to equip you in becoming more independent in managing strong emotions on your own. I have training in trauma focused therapies such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Attachment, Regulation, Competency (ARC), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) quite often to assist in identifying negative beliefs about yourself and the world that are driving the symptoms and behaviors that might bring you to therapy. One of my favorite parts of therapy is when I can assist someone in developing self-compassion and uncovering their inner strengths and potential. I also utilize creative interventions when appropriate through art, sand tray, and music. I have experience in a variety of settings such as employee assistance programs working with clients of all ages and high school-based counseling. I see a whole host of issues in my practice, however I specialize in trauma--whether that is childhood sexual abuse, current sexual assault, chronic trauma that occurred throughout your life (i.e. neglect, chaotic upbringing, etc), or one time events (natural disaster, accidents, deaths). Trauma often leads to a host of other issues, that I also work well with in my practice. Some of the issues I see alongside trauma include anxiety and depression, life transitions, relational conflict, process addictions (such as eating disorders, sex or gaming addiction), substance abuse, or family of origin issues.
As a therapist, I specialize in working with current and former athletes, students, and high achievers who are navigating challenges with perfectionism, self-criticism, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, and identity. My practice is rooted in supporting girls and women strengthen their confidence and redefine their success. Whether you're navigating life during or after sport, facing academic or career pressure, or trying to rediscover who you are outside of achievement, therapy can be a powerful space to pause, reflect, and heal. Many of my clients are used to excelling. From the outside, they seem driven, focused, and capable. But internally, they may struggle with self-criticism, burnout, imposter syndrome, or a sense that they’re not “enough”, even when they’re exceeding expectations. I use evidence based strategies to help clients in creating a more empowered sense of self! My approach is collaborative, affirming, and non-judgemental. I’m a former collegiate athlete and current coach, so I have first-hand experience seeing and experiencing the impact on young women. I am also currently PhD Candidate researching depression, anxiety, and perfectionism seen in athletes.
