My prior experiences in both a community clinic setting as well as a university setting has put me in contact with a variety of client issues. Many of my previous clients have sought help for depression, anxiety, family/relationship conflict, substance use, adjusting to difficult life transitions, exploring and redefining personal identities, and sometimes simply learning more about who they are and who they want to be. Here is a snapshot of my specialty areas: Depression Anxiety/Panic Attacks Identity exploration LGBTQ+ Life transitions Chronic Disability/ Invisible Illness Alternative spirituality Existential questions Before studying and graduating with a master of science degree in clinical mental health counseling, I studied and taught French and Francophone language, literature, and culture. Having studied in Quebec, Canada and having taught English in France reinforced my devotion for expanding perspectives and developing insight. I eventually decided to apply my passion for introspection and self-exploration to help those who need a guiding hand through life's trials and travails. Upon returning to the US, I enrolled in the University of North Georgia's counseling program. I interned in a community counseling setting in North Georgia as well as in a college counseling setting at Kennesaw State University. These experiences continued to inspire me to help those in most need of sensitive care, such as the LGBTQ+ community. Insight and introspection can be lifesavers when we feel as though we’ve lost our way. Learning new ways of handling and adapting to all of life’s changes can be revitalizing. We can grow through obtaining new perspective. I would be excited to be there with you on your path as a co-journeyer and as a provider of objective, researched-based counseling.

I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Atlanta. I see individuals and couples for short and long term psychotherapy. I practice at the intersection theory and neurobiology + the wisdom of mindfulness movement and meditation. In addition to over 20 years of training and experience in the practice of psychotherapy, I believe in the use of care, respectful humor and laughter as one of the most wonderful and connecting aspects of life, especially in navigating some of the difficult passages we face along the way.
I believe that healing begins the moment you feel heard and understood. However, we live in a world where finding someone who can actively listen and attend to our true emotions and thoughts non-judgmentally is hard to come by. I use my authenticity, empathy, and sense of humor in therapy to provide a safe space where you can get to the root of the challenges you may be experiencing. However, I also believe it’s important to provide you with coping skills to equip you in becoming more independent in managing strong emotions on your own. I have training in trauma focused therapies such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Attachment, Regulation, Competency (ARC), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) quite often to assist in identifying negative beliefs about yourself and the world that are driving the symptoms and behaviors that might bring you to therapy. One of my favorite parts of therapy is when I can assist someone in developing self-compassion and uncovering their inner strengths and potential. I also utilize creative interventions when appropriate through art, sand tray, and music. I have experience in a variety of settings such as employee assistance programs working with clients of all ages and high school-based counseling. I work under the clinical direction of Meg McLeroy, LMFT and the supervision of Laura Knox Furfari, LMFT. I encourage you to contact me with any questions, and I look forward to connecting with you.
Currently, I provide virtual/online appointments through a HIPAA-compliant client portal. My clinical specialties include helping people cope with stress more effectively in relationships and academic or professional pursuits, find their way through difficult life transitions of their own or in their families, and process traumatic events they have experienced or witnessed. I also help people learn how to more effectively manage a variety of mental health disorders, including anxiety, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and symptoms of psychosis. My approach is integrative (tailored to you), collaborative (we are a team), client-centered (begins with and builds on your own understanding), strengths-focused (develops your strengths to foster greater resilience), and trauma-informed (our relationship becomes a safe space for processing and releasing difficult thoughts and emotions).
Hello! Let's be honest...seeking therapy can be an uncertain and anxiety-filled process whether you have never worked with a counselor before or have had multiple bad experiences leaving you feeling guarded and hopeless. Each client has different needs and you deserve counseling that is tailored specifically to you. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia. I currently hold an Educational Specialist’s Degree (Ed.S.) in Counselor Education and a Master’s Degree (M.S.) in Clinical Psychology. I have extensive experience working in the counseling field for over 10 years where I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults receiving services for behavioral mental health and substance abuse in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, and semi independent residential treatment facilities. Specifically, I have worked with clients diagnosed with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, attention-deficit hyperactivity, and psychotic disorders as well as those struggling with behavioral and emotional distress, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, sleep difficulties, and more. I particularly enjoy working with students and faculty to help them thrive during transitions. Because therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution, I use an integrative approach and pull from various theoretical orientations (person-centered, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal process) to ensure your treatment is individualized and collaborative. Regardless of the intervention or techniques used, I practice from the fundamental belief that most often people are good and are trying to do their best given their current situation, but may make bad decisions. We are all human and imperfect… and worthy of love and compassion. This includes you. I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, and the average cost of a session for clients who use their insurance is less than $30.

Sometimes we need some support navigating the rough waters of life. Therapy can help guide you in releasing your pain and so that you can start living with more peace and ease.
