Therapists for college students near New York, NY
Navigating college life can be both exciting and overwhelming. My practice is dedicated to supporting college students through the unique challenges they face—academically, socially, emotionally, and personally. Whether you're coping with anxiety, managing stress, adjusting to campus life, or exploring your identity, I'm here to provide a safe, compassionate, and confidential space. With a deep understanding of the college experience, I offer tailored support to help students build resilience, improve their mental well-being, and thrive during these transformative years. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to helping each student feel heard and empowered. Whether you're seeking short-term guidance or ongoing support, I’m here to help you make the most of your college journey.
During college, it's not unusual to feel overwhelmed. Perhaps you want closer friendships. Maybe you get anxious when you talk to new people, or you feel lonely or down. Maybe you're falling back into a familiar depression or returning to high levels of anxiety you hoped wouldn't follow you to college. It can be hard to think about going to therapy when you don't even know what you'd say. If you feel badly about yourself or you feel hopeless, it might be hard to think anything will help. You are not alone. You don't have to have the answers. Listening compassionately, I will invite you to bring your experience into the room. Together, we can collaborate to better understand you and the challenges you're confronting. We may discover unmourned losses or unhealed wounds. We may identify recurring patterns of thoughts, feelings, and interactions that may not be serving you anymore. Experiencing a greater emotional range, you can begin to heal. After working in university counseling centers for over 15 years, I now see many undergraduate and graduate students in private practice. I enjoy working both with students who are new to psychotherapy as well as those who have been in therapy previously. Many students I work with are LGBTQIA+/ queer students.

There is a commitment to developing a safe space where you have the opportunity to figure out who you are. What your needs are and how you get your needs met. Each clinician has an integrated approach to working with people. We appreciate the courage it takes to go towards therapy and we work very hard to be sensitive to each person's unique story.

Are trying to hold it all together? You're not alone, and you don't have to figure it out by yourself. I'm Trinity, a graduate-level therapist intern based in NYC, and I specialize in working with students, caregivers, parents, veterans and first responders trying to manage all that their demanding roles ask of them. Before pursuing my clinical training, I spent years as a nurse in healthcare, which gave me firsthand experience with high-stress environments and a deep respect for the emotional toll of caretaking professions- something I bring into every session with my clients. If you're ready to feel more like yourself again, I'd be honored to support you on that journey.
Madeline offers therapy that meets you wherever you are on your journey. She supports individuals who are seeking to heal their relationship with their bodies, manage anxiety or overwhelm, or navigate transitions and identity shifts with greater clarity and compassion. Her work often resonates with clients who have experienced a sense of disconnection from their bodies—whether due to trauma, chronic stress, or societal pressures—and are ready to cultivate a kinder, more grounded relationship with themselves. Madeline also works with couples who wish to deepen communication, restore connection, and strengthen emotional intimacy. Across her work, she emphasizes nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and cultivating a sense of inner safety—so that clients can move through life with more ease, authenticity, and self-trust.
Hello! I work with students who are struggling with anxiety, depression, perfectionism and self-esteem, procrastination, relationship difficulties, or feeling the impact of past experiences in their daily lives. My style is warm, gentle, and honest, with appropriate humor. I'm happy to provide short-term or long-term therapy depending on your goals. I offer telehealth appointments Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and I'm available for in-person sessions on Thursdays in Midtown Manhattan.
You may look like you're holding it all together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or exhausted on the inside. Whether you're navigating anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, burnout, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, therapy can offer a space to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with yourself. I take a warm, relational, and trauma-informed approach to therapy, integrating mindfulness-based, somatic, CBT, DBT-informed, and psychodynamic perspectives. Together, we'll work through what brought you to therapy, while exploring the deeper patterns that shape how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative space where insight and practical tools can help foster meaningful, lasting change. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the corporate and technology sectors, an experience that continues to inform my work with clients navigating career stress, burnout, perfectionism, identity shifts, and life transitions. I understand the pressures that can come with demanding professional environments and enjoy helping clients build more sustainable, values-aligned ways of living. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, and major life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply looking to understand yourself better, I'd love to support you and provide a space for growth, healing, and deeper self-understanding.
Past experiences may be affecting how you see yourself, relate to others, or move through the world. Healing is possible. Many come to therapy feeling weighed down by trauma, difficult relationships, low self-esteem, or unresolved childhood experiences. You may be functioning on the outside while feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of yourself on the inside. Many of the adults I work with struggle with trusting themselves or others, setting boundaries, or feeling worthy of care and connection. Therapy can help you build insight, strengthen your sense of self, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with people seeking deeper understanding, healing, and meaningful change. My approach is warm, exploratory, and open, with an emphasis on creating a space where you feel safe enough to be honest and work at your own pace. My style is collaborative and nonjudgmental, grounded in respect. Beginning therapy takes courage. With curiosity, compassion, and openness, I approach therapy as a supportive and collaborative partner to my patients, who include children, adolescents, and adults. My specialties as a psychotherapist focus on trauma, self-esteem and identity concerns, difficult emotions, family stress, and periods of significant change. Together, we help you create a stronger sense of self, make sense of your experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and navigate relationships and life changes with greater confidence and self-understanding. I look forward to building a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore your experiences and work toward the changes that matter most to you. I believe people are capable of meaningful change when they feel supported rather than judged and, therefore, the therapeutic process should be shaped around each person's individual needs, strengths, and goals. That’s why I bring a warm, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach to care, as I'm passionate about making therapy a collaborative process where you feel safe to be honest, explore difficult experiences, and better understand yourself. You can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being yourself, with a style that's collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals. Through evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-focused interventions, and psychodynamic therapy, I help you better understand your emotions and experiences, develop practical coping skills, strengthen relationships, and work toward meaningful change. Therapy should meet you where you are rather than asking you to fit into a particular framework, so I shape our work around what feels most helpful and meaningful to you. I didn’t initially intend to become a therapist; I was invested in pursuing psychological research, but a serendipitous scheduling issue with an undergraduate placement moved me from research assistant to intake counselor, and I found myself deeply invested in the stories I heard and equally rewarded by the support I was able to provide in crucial moments. That experience led me to pivot my career aspirations, and I have since pursued clinical work across a variety of populations and modalities. All of this work has deepened my commitment to providing warm, collaborative care centered on the patient and how their unique experiences in life have shaped their perspectives and understanding of the world. In my free time, I like baking for the people in my life (I'm a big fan of pie), along with reading, painting, and photography. I'm also a long-suffering fan of the Philadelphia Flyers.
I specialize in helping people who have OCD, phobias and insomnia. It's very common for these problems to emerge in college, which can add immense pressure to an already intense time of life. Many people who struggle with these issues are very functional in other ways, and work hard to hide their pain. You may be used to solving problems on your own, and you might ask yourself "What's wrong with me? Why can't I fix this" when your usual strategies haven't helped. In our work together, I can help you understand why you keep getting stuck, and find a way to break free. My clients with OCD are smart, conscientious people who want to do the right thing. The things that they fear feel like very real possibilities to them, and they feel like it would be irresponsible to just ignore them. They want someone to tell them that everything is going to be okay, but when someone says that, they have a hard time believing it. They might go back and forth between feeling like other people are in denial about the terrible things that can happen in life, and feeling angry with themselves for not being able to stop spiraling. My treatment approach to OCD is very sensitive to these aspects of OCD. We don’t put energy into determining probabilities or disputing whether or not something is possible. Instead, we help you learn to trust in your own ability to distinguish between real world problems that deserve your time and attention, and OCD created problems that don’t need to be (and can’t be) solved because they are based on a believable, but false story. Once you feel confident that you can tell the difference between these two kinds of problems, you won’t feel the need to seek reassurance or do compulsions. People with specific phobias spend a lot of time and energy trying to avoid the thing that they fear. They are often very creative at finding work-arounds! At the same time, they might also feel limited by their phobias, and wish to seek help. Unfortunately, they might also have an impression that therapy will be like a sadistic game show, where they are forced to come into contact with something terribly frightening. This is not the case! Therapy for phobias is all about education and increasing your sense of self-efficacy and self-acceptance. We go at your pace, with the goal of helping you live your life freely. When you have insomnia, most advice about sleep is not helpful. You probably feel like you know more about sleep than anyone, and yet you still find yourself awake all night and exhausted all day. In therapy, I will listen to you and help you understand why you have been unable to sleep well. Then we will create a plan that actually helps you sleep!
My name is Scott Graybow. I am a psychotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience and extensive post-graduate training. I welcome the opportunity to help you work on the issues that bring you to therapy. I understand therapy to be a cooperative effort in which we work together to help you engage with your mind, your environment, and your relationships. Therapy is pragmatic yet deeply meaningful; we simultaneously focus on immediate problems and opportunities for long-term growth. Throughout our work together, I strive to offer help that resonates with your individual needs and preferences. I work with young adults, adults, seniors, and couples. People who work with me are often seeking help for depression, anxiety, trauma, sexuality/intimacy, LGBTQ issues, self-esteem, religion/spirituality, work/life balance, men's issues, and the emotional impact of navigating challenging life transitions. As your therapist, I work to help you understand yourself so you can grow, be more effective, and cope better with the problems that bring you to therapy. I earned a PhD at the CUNY Graduate Center and an MSW from Columbia University. I completed postgraduate psychotherapy training at the Psychoanalytic Training Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society. Besides private practice, I’ve worked as a therapist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Washington Square Inst., and Montefiore Medical Center. I also have experience teaching clinical practice classes to graduate-level social work students and publishing/presenting peer reviewed articles about psychotherapy and other mental health topics.
College and graduate school can be a time when familiar ways of understanding yourself stop working. You may appear capable on the outside while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, uncertain about who you are, or caught in relationship patterns you do not know how to change. I work with thoughtful, curious students and young adults navigating relationships, life transitions, attachment patterns, identity, purpose, and periods of spiritual expansion. My approach is relational, depth-oriented, and grounded in the belief that our struggles often make more sense when we understand the experiences and relationships that shaped them. Rather than focusing only on what feels “wrong,” we approach your patterns with curiosity and explore how they may have once protected you but now keep you feeling stuck or disconnected. In sessions, I am compassionate, emotionally attuned, and direct. I listen closely, ask thoughtful and sometimes difficult questions, and help you notice what may be happening beneath the words. Therapy with me is collaborative and engaged. Together, we create a space where you can move beyond analyzing your experiences and begin connecting with what you actually feel, need, and want. My background in psychedelic preparation and integration, along with more than a decade of meditation, yoga, breathwork, and contemplative practice, informs my understanding of psychological growth. I am comfortable exploring spirituality, altered or expanded states, and experiences that may be difficult to put into words, while keeping our work practical and grounded. These interests do not need to be the focus of therapy. I also have a particular interest in couples therapy. Using emotionally focused and relational approaches, I help partners understand the cycles that keep them stuck and move toward greater honesty, vulnerability, and connection. Growth is rarely linear. We often encounter the same lessons until we develop the awareness and capacity to meet them differently. Therapy can help you strengthen that awareness, trust yourself more fully, and build a life and relationships that feel more authentically your own.
I am a therapist at ThriveWell Psychotherapy where our aim is to provide a warm and affirming space that focuses on individuals’ innate strengths and promotes self acceptance. Through a collaborative and interactive approach, we support our clients by exploring their emotional health and engaging in the change process, to reach their fullest potential. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, relationship challenges, executive functioning concerns, LGBTQ+ identity exploration, life transitions, and transitions into and out of competitive athletics. I collaborate with my clients to determine which therapeutic strategies best meet their unique needs, goals, and preferences. Above all, I hope to create a warm, safe space where clients feel empowered to make lasting changes and ultimately achieve their goals. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy reading, playing tennis, thrifting, cooking, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with six years of experience, I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and ADHD. Whether you're working through difficult emotions or simply looking to improve daily functioning and personal growth, I'm here to help you find your footing and build the skills to move forward. Specializing in play therapy and person-centered approaches, I believe in meeting you exactly where you are. Together, we'll discover what works for you and develop practical tools that support your personal growth and daily life. Our sessions are built on safety, collaboration, and genuine understanding. Using play therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we'll work together to explore your emotions, strengthen your coping skills, and build the confidence to navigate challenges more independently. Warm and nurturing by nature, I tailor my approach to your unique needs and goals. Every person who comes to me deserves a welcoming, affirming, and nonjudgmental space, and that's exactly what I strive to create. Whether you're a child, teen, or adult, I'm committed to being a trustworthy partner throughout your care, helping you feel more empowered in your everyday life. My path to becoming a therapist began long before graduate school. As a teenager, working with children gave me my first real sense of how meaningful it is to support someone through a hard moment. Paired with my studies in psychology, those early experiences revealed a clear passion: helping others navigate challenges and grow into themselves. That foundation has stayed with me ever since. In every session, I bring empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to connect with each person I work with, because person-centered care isn't just a practice model to me. It's a commitment. When I'm not working, you might find me reading, playing video games, hooked on a crochet project, or enjoying a Broadway show.
